Background:
John is a native of Cleveland, Ohio, and attended  The Ohio State University.  He graduated from Ohio State  in 2000, with a degree in criminology.  In addition, John was a member of the Men's Division I Wrestling team while at Ohio State.   After receiving his degree from Ohio State,  John received orders to Naval Officers Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida.  John  was commissioned as a Naval Officer in 2002.   While John was in the Navy, he was stationed in NAS Pensacola and spent time aboard the USS WASP before being discharged  in 2006.   He  received an honorable discharge to attended Thomas M. Cooley Law School and graduated in 2010.
